The Demonologist : The Extraordinary Career Of Ed and Lorraine Warren Review

 

Hey all so here is the first book I bought about the Warrens, the Demonologists by Gerald Brittle.    This book talks about how Ed and Lorraine got started in becoming Psychic investigators. Ed painted and also sketched pictures of haunted homes . They would go to the homes knock on the door and would offer the home owners the sketches Ed had drawn . The homeowners often invite them in their home in for a  cup of tea and a chat about the house.

People have to start somewhere,  and I think it's more than pretty cool that the home owners, welcomed them with open arms to happily chat about the goings on in the home. Everyone has a story that needs to be told and frankly i find this interesting  to say the least!  I love hearing the history of old homes and about whomever lived there years before hand. 

Ed and Lorraine in this book talk about how they were both attacked separately by the same entity! Ed saw it in the hallway by his office  it made him fall meanwhile Lorraine saw it in the on the exact same night . It just blows my mind that this stuff happened to the both of them more often than definitely not and that they lived to tell the tales of all their years of experience. 

Also that night they said some prayers and could hear the neighbors dogs howling at what people perceive as the witching hour where ghosts roam at night and when  most of us would be creeped out by silence or the sound of howling wind or the sound of the trees scraping against the house. 

It also talks about a few of their cases like Amityville and Annabelle, the conjuring ,  the Enfield haunting as well. During one case involving a teenage girl who along with friends dabbled in the occult. Upon arriving  Ed and Lorraine had discovered that she was doing so and like her parents told them she was in fact posessed!  They performed an exorcism which worked.

The poor girl was devastated that she had caused so much trouble and apologized profusely to her family. Ed ended up confiscating all of  her occult items ie occult books and of course the black candles from the home. They were put in trash bags outside by Ed and the girl.

 Thank God for Ed and Lorraine and their expertise because they taught her a very valuable lesson. Don't  ever mess with things you truly don't understand because you don't understand the ramifications or the consequences of doing so if you actually are that inclined to use them.

What I love about this book is the backtrack a bit and the Warrens compare another case to one previously discussed in a previous chapter,  everything I heard someone say is a learning process to understand one case , you have to take a look back at another and say , ah yes I get it now and have a positive view point and when you do you begin to be open to a whole other realm of possibilities and logical thinking rather than have a skewed view of  all things you don't understand .

It also covers the case of another girl who was possessed , Ed was so not too impressed with the way he was being disrespected and taunted by the demon who was inhabiting the girls body. The exorcism worked and the girl as well as the girl with the occult items were never possessed again.

What I've learned from this book is that demons and poltergeists prey on very vulnerable people , particularly the young people who have a morbid curiosity of the occult. These are the kids who have been going through a rough time in their lives , those who do dabble in stuff as I said up above they shouldn't and parents who have seen signs of possession had taken their kids to see Ed and Lorraine or they've gone to the homes to help those in obvious peril and  distress and helped them through this very difficult situation where the families are grateful for their help  .

I definitely would like to thank Ed and Lorraine for their teachings, and their candor about their experiences ,  they've made me feel good and relieved that someone else out there has the same outlook about things as myself and my family. I most definitely believe ghosts exist, as they said if you believe in God and the devil you have to believe  spirits exists and even walk the earth.

I also strongly believe someone is truly watching over me, it has also made  me aware that you need to have a lot of faith, trust in people like Ed and Lorraine in these circumstances that  these were things that were way beyond any of  the families  concerned  understanding or control 

 With that being said I highly recommend that if you've not read this book you should definitely get it and read it. The Demonologist is a real page turner and  its so interesting to read about their lives,  their personal journeys and  experiences while investigating their many cases over the years.
